This picture was posted on Facebook today under one of the South African pages, and I was just thinking how it made me think of the smell and also of the house boys that worked in the apartment blocks in the 70's and probably before. The all wore a uniform of either blue or khaki shorts and a top, most of them had long ears with those big earnings in them.
I remember seeing them at an apartment block in Linmeyer as well, and seeing them polishing the steps in the sun, I think it was easier to polish those steps when they were warm.
Does anyone else remember that?
